American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network

Cancer Advocate,

That was a big step forward.

Late last night, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a fourth coronavirus stimulus bill.

I’m excited to report that many of the needs ACS CAN volunteers advocated for have been included. These include:
  • Funding to restart medical research and clinical trials that had been halted.
  • Coverage with no cost-sharing for coronavirus-related treatment.
  • A special enrollment period for anyone who wants to join an Affordable Care Act health insurance plan.
This is an important first step in getting relief for cancer patients and survivors who so desperately need it.

However, difficult work lies ahead as we must now convince the U.S. Senate to include these provisions and others in their version of the legislation.

I know I’ve asked a lot of you these past two months, so I’m going to take a break from that today. But please keep an eye on your inbox and ACS CAN’s social media channels as important and impactful action opportunities will be coming very soon.

Thank you for all you’re doing for people impacted by cancer during the coronavirus pandemic.

Stay well.
